Stephen Austin EuBanks was one of the Columbine High School massacre survivors. He was 17 at the time of the shooting and was at the library during lunch with his best friend Corey DePooter.

During the shooting

When the shooting started, Austin hid under a table together with his best friend, Jennifer Doyle and another freshman. He knew the shooters only by their first name and heard them randomly shooting people in the library and setting off bombs. He also heard Dylan talking to another student John Savage whom Dylan told to get up and run. When they reached the table he was hiding under, Dylan aimed his semi-automatic weapon directly at Corey's head and pulled the trigger. As Dylan continued to shoot, Austin tried to cover his head as good as possible. When the firing stopped, he looked up and saw that Corey was bleeding badly and knew he was dead. After the shooters left the library he got up together with the other survivors and ran outside.

After the shooting

After Austin got out he was transferred to the hospital and treated for a gunshot in his hand an a bullet gazed knee. He was released the same day and graduated from Columbine High School on 20 May, 2000.

On May 18, 2019, Austin Eubanks died of a drug overdose in his Colorado home. He was 37 years old at the time of his death.
